PRIVACY POLICY

The South Australian Genealogy & Heraldry Society Inc (SAGHS) incorporated in South Australia and of GPO Box 592 Adelaide SA 5001 Australia, is a not for profit organisation established in 1973 and operated by an elected council of eleven members on behalf of its paid membership. SAGHS provides a range of services related to genealogy for its members and family historians in general. As part of its business, SAGHS collects a range of personal data for and on behalf of its members for the purposes of family history research only.

SAGHS, its Council and any employee/volunteer working on behalf of the former will not knowingly pass on any private information about clients collected for the administration of the business itself.

SAGHS, its Council and any employee/volunteer working on behalf of the former will not knowingly pass on any information, collected in the course of family history research and publishing, to a third party without the knowledge of the primary client.

SAGHS, in conjunction with others, operates a number of web pages based on the promotion of the above enterprise and family history in general. Subscribers to these sites are advised that no 'cookies' or other unseen records are maintained.

SAGHS, its Council and any employee/volunteer working on behalf of the former will not knowingly pass on any personal information collected from Internet submissions without the knowledge of the subscriber.

It is pointed out that neither SAGHS, its Council and its employees/volunteers can prevent the harvesting of data displayed on the web site by third parties. Therefore it is proposed that no personal data will be displayed on the site. Moreover the research material, the result of indexing and research by the Society and others, displayed on the site will be presented in a format that makes the wholesale collection of this data difficult.

It should be noted that under the provisions of the current Australian legislation, privacy laws only apply to living persons.
