To fulfil its objectives, the Society undertakes projects to assist researchers locate a range of records of South Australia.
In most instances, the Council initiates Society Projects. The Projects Committee and various Co-ordinators, assisted by volunteers, manage each project to its completion. For large projects, Council may decide to establish a Committee to manage and direct the project.
Currently, the Society is undertaking the following projects:
- Transcribing and photographing memorial inscriptions and collecting burial registers. (Cemetery Co-ordinator)
- Indexing personal notices in newspapers. (Newspaper Co-ordinator)
- Microfilming a range of records. (Microfilming Co-ordinator)
- Compiling an index of Irish Born South Australians. (IBSA Committee).
The Society has completed a number of projects which include:
- Compiling Indexes of South Australian Births (1842-1928), Marriages (1842-1937) & deaths (1842-1972). (BDM Committee)
- Producing a Biographical Index of persons living in South Australia (1836-1885). (BISA Committee)
- Producing a companion Index (with sources) of persons living in South Australia (1836-1885). (BISA Committee).
