BLUE FOLDERS - IMMIGRATION

- are in the General Shipping Section.
Information on ships from European ports, voyages and passengers 1836 - 1886.
More than 180 passenger lists have been researched, checked and often revised with newly available information from official and original sources. After 1856 official German records form the basis of the lists. Extra information from other original sources may have been added.

BACK FOLDERS - RESEARCH

What, how and where to research in Australia and Overseas,
Research topics include - Languages, translations, understanding of German writing and printing with many examples.
Includes Bibliographies, Organisations, Government Departments, Lutheran, Wendish (Sorbish) as well as general research in Australia and using computers for research.

RECORDING, PREPARING AND PUBLISHING A FAMILY HISTORY

RED FOLDERS - PEOPLE

Collected articles and information sorted alphabetically by family names (surnames).
This may include obituaries, biographies, pedigrees, celebrations, awards, photographs etc. gathered form many sources in Australia as well as some from Overseas.
Names being researched, contributed by researchers, are included alphabetically.
Also included separately are lists - petitions, gatherings, naturalization, memberships, etc.

GREEN FOLDERS - PEOPLE AND PLACES

Include - Australian, Continental Europe and other places where Germanic people have lived.
The information is likely to include names and dates of the settlements, province and country at particular times, new names if changed at any time, vicinity, province and country maps, description and history of place, photographs of old buildings and the environment and names of people who may have lived there. Information as to where some records of the place may be found.

There are various macro and micro maps of Australian and Europe (some showing changes of borders and many earlier than 1990). There are indexes of some of the maps.

GREY FOLDERS - HISTORY

- may include articles, maps, chronological charts, photographs, etc.
The topics are wide and varied and include South Australia, Australia, Europe (political and general), early land settlement, environmental, religion in Australia and Overseas, emigration and immigration, etc.

YELLOW FOLDERS - CULTURE AND
CUSTOMS

Includes religion, celebrations, arts & crafts, costume, housing, occupations, social and
economic organization in Australia and Overseas.


Continental Europe
Folders are gradually being processed to contain research information similar to the Germanic Research folders.
