The
purpose of this project was to create new indexes of the South
Australian Registrations of Births, Deaths and marriages in several
stages in accordance with an agreement between the Minister of
Consumer Affairs representing the South Australian Government
and the Society. The project commenced in 1991 and was completed
in 2006.
The indexes are:
- Births 1842 to 1906
- Marriages 1842 to 1916
- Deaths 1842 to 1915
- Births 1907 to 1928
- Marriages 1917 to 1937
- Deaths 1916 to 1972
The
project was overseen by a project officer and committee supported
by a large team of volunteers since its inception. From Oct 2003
the project was completely managed by the project officer who
reports to the Project Committee.
The work resulted in the production of outstanding indexes. The
material is available in book (A4 soft cover), fiche or CD format
